Chartered Accountancy Course is referred as the most reputed course in the commerce field one with both name and fame. Institute of Chartered Accountant in India is only authorised to conduct the CA Examinations and give the degree.

It takes around 4.5 years to complete the Chartered Accountancy Course in India until and unless you face failure in any of the above examinations. It consists of 3 years of articleship and 1.5 years for the above two levels i.e. CA Foundation and Intermediate.

The Entire Chartered Accountancy Course in India is divided into 4 stages

  1. CA Foundation
  2. CA Intermediate
  3. 3 Years Practical Training
  4. CA Final

There are two ways to enter into the CA Course one is Direct Entry Scheme and the other one is CA Foundation Route after 12th Examination.

Foundation Route for Chartered Accountancy Course

CA Foundation

The students who wish to become Chartered Accountant can enroll themselves after appearing in 12th Examination for the Foundation Course which is an entrance level to pursue Chartered Accountancy Course in India. They have to undergo for 4 months study period before appearing in the Examination.

After passing 12th Examination conducted by an examining body constituted by law in India or an examination recognised by the Central Government as equivalent thereto they can appear in CA Foundation Examination.

CA Foundation consists of Four papers two of which is subjective and other two are objective. Students are required to obtain 40% marks in individual subjects and 50% marks in aggregate of all the subjects.

Exams for the CA Foundation course will conduct twice in a year in May and November similar to its other two levels.

CA Intermediate

After passing CA Foundation or CPT, one can register themselves for the CA Intermediate, the next level. The vast Intermediate Course of Chartered Accountancy is divided into two groups one each consists of four papers. The students are required to obtain 40% marks in individual subjects and 50% marks in aggregate of all subjects to crack this Exam.

Exams for the CA Intermediate course will conduct in every six months i.e. May and November.

ICITSS

After registration in CA Intermediate Examinations, the students can register themselves for ICITSS (Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills) for four weeks which have to completed before registration of Practical Training.

One can appear in the Intermediate Examination on completion of 8 months after the Registration.

Practical Training

This is known as the Golden Period in the Journey of Chartered Accountancy Course where each students has to undergo for 3 years of Practical Training after passing either one or both groups of CA Intermediate or first group of CA IPC and successfully completed ICITSS. They have to register themselves under a practicing Chartered Accountant for 3 years.

AICITSS

During the last two years of Practical training during Chartered Accountancy Course in India they have to undergo four weeks program of AICITSS (Advance Integrated course on Information Technology and Soft Skills) consisting of Advanced Integrated Technology and Management and Communication Skills before appearing in Final Examination.

CA Final

This is the last and the most scared level of the Chartered Accountancy Course consisting of two groups divided into 4 subjects by each group. The students after passing both the groups of CA Intermediate or CA IPC can register themselves for the CA Final.

The students can appear in the Final examination either after completion of Practical Training or while serving the last six months of Practical training and successfully completion of AICITSS.

After passing both the groups of CA Final examination and completion of Articleship Training one can enroll as a member of ICAI and referred as a designated Chartered Accountant.

Direct Entry Route

Students those who have completed their Graduation or Post Graduation can start pursuing Chartered Accountancy Course after their graduation and get enroll themselves directly to the second level Intermediate.

Eligibility

Commerce Graduates have to score 55% marks in their graduation or Post graduation while Non Commerce students have to obtain 60%. For complete CA Course Eligibility follow the link.

They can also make a provisional registration with the ICAI in the Final year of their Graduation.

ICITSS

Chartered Accountancy Course Direct Entry Route students have to undergo four weeks of Information Technology and Soft Skills before commencement of Practical Training.

Practical Training

After registration in CA Intermediate and successfully completing ICITSS they also have to register themselves for 3 years of Practical Training.

CA Final

They can appear in Chartered Accountancy Intermediate Exams on completion of 9 months of Practical Training. After clearing both the groups they can register themselves for CA Final.

AICITSS

During last two years of their articleship they have to undergo four weeks of AICITSS (Advance Integrated course on Information Technology and Soft Skills) consisting of Advance Information Technology and Management Communication Skills and before appearing in Final Examinations.

Either after completion of practical training or while serving the last six months of practical training they can appear in CA Final Examination.

Once the candidate successfully completed 3 years of Practical Training and pass the Final Examination they are known as designated Chartered Accountant and enroll themselves as a member of ICAI.
